The Guilty Chronicles

Books you probably shouldn’t be reading… but absolutely are.

Guilty Reads is an independent South African online bookstore for readers who like their stories a little darker, a little spicier and a lot more obsessive. We’re here for the bookworms who stay up too late, dog‑ear pages, and whisper “just one more chapter” until the sun comes up.

If you love romance with teeth, fantasy with claws, and paperbacks that make your heart race, you’re in the right place.

Who we’re for

Guilty Reads is made for:

• Dark romance devotees who want morally grey love interests, messy feelings and happily‑ever‑afters with a twist.

• Romantasy and gothic fantasy fans who live for magic, monsters, curses and castles.

• BookTok‑inspired readers who want to know what all the screaming is about (and add it straight to the TBR).

• Special‑edition collectors who can’t resist sprayed edges, foiling and pretty spines.

Whether you’re a casual romance reader or a fully feral book dragon, we’re here to feed your next obsession.

What we curate

We focus on:

• Dark Romance & Romantasy – morally grey heroes, anti‑heroines, enemies to lovers, slow burns and deliciously unhinged plots.

• Gothic Fantasy – haunted houses, cursed families, eerie small towns and atmospheric reads for stormy nights.

• Sports Romance – banter, chemistry and off‑the‑field drama with your favourite athletes.

• BookTok Favourites – the titles everyone’s talking about (and crying over) online.

• Special Editions – beautiful, collectable copies you’ll want to display front‑facing on your shelves.

Every book is chosen with South African readers in mind, so you can discover the stories everyone’s raving about without hunting all over the internet.

How to discover your next book

Finding your next fictional obsession should feel fun, not overwhelming. On Guilty Reads, you can:

• Browse by mood and genre – explore Dark Romance, Romantasy, Gothic Fantasy, Sports Romance, BookTok Favourites and Special Editions from the menu.

• Follow the curated sections – check out Featured Books, BookTok Favourites and our category cards on the home page when you’re not sure what you’re in the mood for.

• Read the details – each product page includes format, edition info and a description that highlights genre and tropes, so you know exactly what kind of chaos you’re signing up for.

Take your time, wander through the shelves, and let something unexpected catch your eye.

Why shop with Guilty Reads

We’re not a faceless mega‑store. Guilty Reads is a small, book‑obsessed business built for readers like you. When you shop with us, you get:

• Curated chaos – a focused selection of romance‑leaning titles instead of endless scrolling.

• A distinctly South African perspective – pricing, shipping options and communication tailored for local readers.

• A welcoming, no‑judgement space – your TBR is safe here, no matter how unhinged it looks.

We’re here to make it easy (and a little too tempting) to find your next guilty pleasure read.
